He studied clarinet and composition at the Juilliard School and the New School before receiving a B.S. in music education at the Teachers’ College of Columbia University. He also earned a Ph.D. in composition from the University of California, Los Angeles.</p> <p>Crosswell composed music for modern dance, film, and off-Broadway and college theater. He also wrote instrumental concert music, mainly for solo instruments and small chamber groups. He taught music history, theory, and composition at Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York, and at Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Crosswell's students included both undergraduates and graduates, and he taught courses for music and non-music majors. Rudolph Crosswell died in 1992.</p>"}

There are also chamber pieces for unique instrumentations such as xylophone, violin, clarinet, and bassoon; and flute, clarinet, trumpet, guitar, piano, and percussion. Several works are untitled, and there is a single folder containing a 2nd bassoon part for an unidentified work.</p>"}
