{"value"=>"<p>Elaine Sulka (1934-1994) a native New Yorker, was an actress, director and co-founder of the National Shakespeare Company and the Cubiculo Theatre with her husband Philip Meister (d.1983). The Company and the Theatre were founded in the 1960s. Sulka and her husband served as the only directors until their respective deaths.</p> <p>The Cubiculo Theatre was a center for the performing arts, film and poetry, located at 414 West 51st Street. The National Shakespeare Company and the Cubiculo Theatre operated in the same space. After Elaine Sulka's death, in 1994, the Company and the Cubiculo Theatre continued under the direction of Greg Lombardo and Tom Trudgeon until 1998.</p>"}
