{"value"=>"<p>Amos Canfield (1878-1942) was born in Van Etten Village, Chemung, New York to Enos Canfield (1841-1899) and Elizabeth (Wall) Canfield (1842-1926). He graduated from Cornell Medical College in 1902, settled in New York City, and married Rosa Anna Murphy (1868-1934) of New Haven, Connecticut in 1905.</p> <p>In 1897 Frederick A. Canfield published <span class=\"title\">A history of Thomas Canfield and of Matthew Canfield, with a genealogy of their descendants in New Jersey</span>. Inspired by this publication, Amos Canfield began to gather information on the Canfields in the United States in anticipation of producing a more definitive book. After decades of preparation, the book was never published.</p>"}
