{"value"=>"John Tyler was the tenth president of the United States, succeeding to the office on the death of William Henry Harrison. Tyler served as a state legislator, governor, U.S. representative, and U.S. senator before being elected Vice President in 1840. The collection consists of letters from Tyler to various individuals concerning minor official and social matters. Some letters are accompanied by typed transcriptions. Also included are Tyler's responses to autograph requests, invitations to various events, and a signed certificate naming John P. Brown to the post of Dragoman of the Sublime Port in 1842"}
