{"value"=>"<p>Betty Comden, part of the successful team of Comden and Green, collaborated as a lyricists with Adolph Green from 1938 until the his death in 2002. Betty Comden was born in 1919 in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from New York University, she began her career as a performer and writer in a cabaret act called <span class=\"title\">The Revuers</span>. Adolph Green was born in 1915 in the Bronx, New York. After a short career on Wall Street, Mr. Green joined <span class=\"title\">The Revuers</span> in 1938 and the Comden and Green team was formed. Comden and Green wrote the book and/or lyrics for such Broadway shows as <span class=\"title\">On the Town</span> (1944), <span class=\"title\">Billion Dollar Baby</span> (1945), <span class=\"title\">Bonanza Bound</span> (1947), <span class=\"title\">Two on the Aisle</span> (1951), <span class=\"title\">Wonderful Town</span> (1953), <span class=\"title\">Peter Pan</span> (1954), <span class=\"title\">Bells are Ringing</span> (1956), <span class=\"title\">Say Darling</span> (1958), <span class=\"title\">A Party With Betty Comden and Adolph Green</span> (1958), <span class=\"title\">Do Re Mi</span> (1960), <span class=\"title\">Subways are for Sleeping</span> (1961), <span class=\"title\">Fade Out-Fade In</span> (1964), <span class=\"title\">Hallelujah, Baby!</span> (1967), <span class=\"title\">Applause</span> (1970), <span class=\"title\">Lorelei</span> (1974), <span class=\"title\">Straws in the Wind</span> (1975), <span class=\"title\">By Bernstein</span> (1975), <span class=\"title\">On the Twentieth Century</span> (1977), <span class=\"title\">A Doll's Life</span> (1982), <span class=\"title\">Singin' in the Rain</span> (1985) and <span class=\"title\">Will Rogers Follies</span> (1991). Comden and Green wrote many screenplays including <span class=\"title\">Good News</span> (1947), <span class=\"title\">The Barkleys of Broadway</span> (1949), <span class=\"title\">On the Town</span> (1949), <span class=\"title\">Take Me Out to the Ball Game</span> (1949), <span class=\"title\">Singin' in the Rain</span> (1952), <span class=\"title\">The Band Wagon</span> (1953), <span class=\"title\">It's Always Fair Weather</span> (1955), <span class=\"title\">Auntie Mame</span> (1958), <span class=\"title\">Bells are Ringing</span> (1960) and <span class=\"title\">What a Way to Go!</span> (1964). They have also written for television, radio, night clubs and recordings. They have won numerous awards including Oscar nominations and Tony awards for <span class=\"title\">Wonderful Town</span>, <span class=\"title\">Hallelujah Baby!</span>, <span class=\"title\">Applause</span>, <span class=\"title\">On the Twentieth Century</span> and <span class=\"title\">Will Rogers Follies</span>.</p>"}
