abstract
{"value"=>"The New York State Branch of United World Federalists, Inc. was founded in New York City in 1947. It was one of 28 state branches of the organization that promoted world federal government, United Nations reform, legislative resolutions, and amendments to the U.S. Constitution to favor world federal government. The predecessor to the national organization was World Federalists, founded in 1941, which merged with other groups in 1943 to form Federal World Government, Inc., the latter becoming World Federalists, USA in 1945, which in turn became the United World Federalists (U.S.) in 1947. The New York State branch was inoperative after 1952. Collection consists of correspondence, minutes, financial records, and printed matter from New York State Branch of United World Federalists, World Federalists and Federal World Government, Inc. Correspondence, 1948-1949, is of the executive secretaries with state chapters and relates to organizational matters. Other records include minutes of the executive committee; financial records, 1947-1950; and printed matter concerning the national organization and its state branches and local chapters.
