{"value"=>"<p>The Seward Park Branch of The New York Public Library traces its origins to 1886, when the Aguilar Free Library Society (AFLS) was incorporated to provide library services to New York's immigrant Jewish community. During the 1880s-1890s AFLS operated branches on East Broadway on Manhattan's lower east side. In 1903 AFLS merged with NYPL, and plans were made to build a new branch library in the neighborhood with funds provided by Andrew Carnegie. The Seward Park Branch, situated on the eastern edge of the park for which it is named, opened in 1909.</p>"}
