Hunt (1830-1906), to disseminate medical and social facts about alcohol. After Hunt's death, Cora F. Stoddard (1872-1936) continued the work through the Scientific Temperance Federation (STF) of Boston. Collection consists of correspondence and printed matter concerning temperance. Correspondence, 1883-1918, includes letters to Hunt and Stoddard relating to their activities on behalf of the WCTU and the STF. Also, one folder of printed temperance materials."}

In 1880, the Women's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) created a Department of Scientific Temperance Instruction, which Hunt headed, to disseminate medical and social facts about alcohol. Cora F. Stoddard (1872-1936) became Hunt's private secretary in 1899 and, after Hunt's death, continued her work through the Scientific Temperance Federation (STF) which was separate from the WCTU. In 1918 Stoddard re-joined the WCTU.</p>"}
