The account book portion dates from 1828-1831 and was used at Megie's sailmaking business in New York City. The diary was kept from January 1-December 31, 1862 and primarily concerns activities on Megie's farm at Murray Hill, New Providence Township, Union County, New Jersey. Diary entries were made by various members of the Megie family and describe family activities, hired help, the weather, crops, visitors, periodicals received at the Post Office, and other matters. There are also occasional cost records"}
