He wrote the book Talks with Great Composers, his reminiscences of conversations with Brahms, Strauss, Puccini, Humperdinck, Bruch, and Grieg. He knew many musicians both obscure and famous, and as a former violinist himself, especially befriended other violinists.</p>"}
