{"value"=>"<p>Beatrice Lillie, stage star, was born in Toronto, Canada on May 29, 1894. Her first appearances on stage were in 1914 in Canada and in England in musical revues. She made her Broadway debut in <span class=\"title\">Andre Charlot's Revue of 1924</span>. Miss Lillie's most notable Broadway performances were in <span class=\"title\">The Seven Lively Arts</span>, <span class=\"title\">Inside U. S. A</span>., <span class=\"title\">Ziegfeld Follies of 1957</span> and <span class=\"title\">High Spirits</span>. She toured the world in <span class=\"title\">An Evening with Beatrice Lillie</span> from 1952 to 1956. Miss Lillie appeared in films and on television. She married Sir Robert Peel in 1920. Beatrice Lillie retired to England in 1977. She died January 20, 1989.</p>"}

{"value"=>"<p>The <span class=\"persname\">Beatrice Lillie</span> papers consist of clippings, correspondence, contracts and photographs. The collection is primarily from the 1960s and documents her professional life at that time though there is some correspondence from 1970 to 1982. Of special note is the file on the television program <span class=\"title\">The Pruitts of Southampton</span>in which she was scheduled to be a regular. This however, was never finalized. There are some photographs in the collection including publicity photographs from her appearance at a charity fundraiser for the <span class=\"corpname\">Jewish General Hospital</span> in June 1954.</p>"}
