An integrated, non-sectarian organization open to women and girls nationwide, it brought together people from all walks of life. In 1971, the organization was incorporated in New York state and raised funds to contribute to charitable organizations, and to provide scholarships for African-American college students. Funds were also disbursed to the sick and to other members in need. The funds were raised through annual events such as luncheons held in New York, talent scout shows and raffles. By 1975, there were over 700 members. The Metropolitan Committee of 100 consists of the constitution, minutes and agendas of meetings, newsletters, circulars, and financial information."}
