The typescript is a 1949 emended draft of Louise Hall Tharp's \"The Peabody Sister of Salem.\" The correspondence includes letters from the author, dating from 1822 to [1877], to Lydia G. Sears Haven, Sophia Peabody Hawthorne, her mother Elizabeth Palmer Peabody, and her sister Miss Elizabeth Palmer Peabody, and others. Also present is a copybook, dating from 1824 to 1826, in Sophia Peabody Hawthorne's hand of letters to her sister, Mary Peabody Mann. There are letters to Mary Mann from Nathaniel Hawthorne, Sophia Peabody Hawthorne, Una Hawthorne, Mrs. Elizabeth Palmer Peabody, Miss Elizabeth Palmer Peabody, Nathaniel Peabody, and others, dating from 1824 to 1884.</p>"}
