{"value"=>"Lawrence Kearney was a lieutenant commander in the United States Navy in 1817, and continued a naval career through the time of his death in 1868. Kearney earned the rank of commodore in 1867. Lawrence Kearney's sketchbook contains colored drawings of locations along the Atlantic coast, including: Louisburg, Cape Breton Island; New Orleans, Louisiana; Havana, Cuba; and St. John's Harbor, Antigua. Also included are drawings of ships and forts and some specimens of natural history"}
