{"value"=>"<p>Joshua Logan, director, playwright and producer of stage, screen and television, was born Joshua Lockwood Logan in Texas in 1908. Educated at Princeton University he also studied in Moscow with Constantin Stanislavsky. During World War II he served in the Army Air Corps with a rank of Captain.</p> <p>Logan made his New York debut in 1932 in the play <span class=\"title\">Carrie Nation</span>, playing the character Mart Strong. He quickly turned to directing and producing, directing <span class=\"title\">Camille</span> in Boston in 1933. His best known productions include <span class=\"title\">I Married an Angel</span>, <span class=\"title\">Knickerbocker Holiday</span>, <span class=\"title\">Charlie's Aunt</span>, <span class=\"title\">This Is the Army</span>, <span class=\"title\">Annie Get Your Gun</span>, <span class=\"title\">Mister Roberts</span>, <span class=\"title\">South Pacific</span>, <span class=\"title\">The Wisteria Trees</span>, <span class=\"title\">The World of Susie Wong</span> and <span class=\"title\">Mr. President</span>. His film credits include <span class=\"title\">Picnic</span>, <span class=\"title\">Bus Stop</span>, <span class=\"title\">Sayonara</span>, <span class=\"title\">South Pacific</span>, <span class=\"title\">Tall Story</span> and <span class=\"title\">Ensign Pulver</span>. Joshua Logan received the Pulitizer Prize with Rodgers and Hammerstein for the musical <span class=\"title\">South Pacific</span>. He died in 1988 at the age of 80.</p>"}
