{"value"=>"Joseph Hillyer Brewer was a publisher, librarian and president of Olivet College. Approximately fifty percent of the collection consists of genealogical notes, charts, correspondence, and clippings resulting from his research and that of other family members into the histories of the allied Ackerman, Bogardus, Bradley, Burr, Chardarayne, Creighton, Giles, Cropsey, Havens, Keeler, Montfort, Pryer, Roorbach, Stayner, Schuyler, Van Vechten, Ward, and Whiting families. The remainder of the collection is comprised of miscellaneous original material, ca. 1797-1927, relating to the above families, including military documents, correspondence, invitations, notices, tickets, calling cards, legal documents, and other family ephemera. Also included are portrait photographs and a few miniature paintings, mid- to late-19th century, of the Roorbach and allied Fuller, Hillyer, Van Vechten, and other families. Photographs are mostly in the form of cartes de visite, daguerreotypes, and ambrotypes."}
