He was a founder and co-editor of The Critic, a New York literary periodical; editor of its successor Putnam's Magazine; and editor of the New York Times Book Review. He served in the diplomatic service and from 1914 to 1928 was secretary of the Industrial Finance Corporation. Collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts and photographs. Correspondence relates to Gilder's activities as the editor of The Critic."}
