{"value"=>"<p>The Jakob Klein presentation album is a collection consisting of sixty-four leaves of autographs commissioned and compiled by the Philharmonische Verein Mannheim and presented to its conductor on the occasion of his seventieth birthday on 10 February 1927. The collection is comprised chiefly of autographs addressed to Klein by many conductors, composers, instrumentalists, singers, and other musicians. Four of the album leaves have autographed photographs affixed to them and one leaf contains a telegram, rather than an autograph, from Artur Bodanzky. Some of the leaves include signatures from more than one individual. Among the notable musicians whose autographs could be identified are those of Claudio Arrau, Willy Burmester, Mme. Charles Cahier, Wilhelm Furtwängler, Franz von Hoesslin, Maria Ivogün, Erica Morini, Lula Mysz-Gmeiner, Alexander Petschnikoff, Arnold Rosé, Moriz Rosenthal, Artur and Therese Schnabel, Rudolf Serkin, James Simon, Richard Strauss, Joseph Szigeti, Emil Telmányi, and Bruno Walter. The collection also includes the leather album case that housed the items, a copy of the original letter soliciting the autographs, and six newspaper clippings, which include reviews of concerts, a death notice for Klein, an account of his memorial service, as well as a piece on the state of Mannheim's concert scene after the death of Klein.</p>"}
