bioghist
{"value"=>"
Harriet Lundgaard (1918-1996) was a radio writer who worked primarily for The Ted Malone Show in the 1940s and 1950s. Born in Rochester, N.Y. on June 26, 1918, Harriet Lundgaard was the daughter of Charlotte Atkinson and Ivar Lundgaard, the latter of whom emigrated to the United States from Norway. Harriet Lundgaard earned a B.A. in English Composition from Wellesley College in 1940 and an M.A. from the University of Rochester in 1941. From 1946 to 1948, and again from 1951 to 1958, Lundgaard worked for Ted Malone (1908-1989). Malone, whose real name was Frank Alden Russell, had a long career in radio as a storyteller and reader of poetry. Harriet Lundgaard died of Cancer in New York City on Oct. 16, 1996.
"}

{"value"=>"
The Harriet Lundgaard Papers consist primarily of scripts for Ted Malone's radio programs, which were aired over the American Broadcasting Company's network. The Ted Malone Show, which was also known at various times as Between the Bookends and A Broadcast, was a program devoted to readings of poetry and prose, usually accompanied by background music. The scripts in the collection coincide with the periods Lundgaard worked for Malone, 1946-1948 and 1951-1958. Malone occasionally read letters from listeners on the air, and some of this mail is included in the collection. There is also personal correspondence between members of Harriet Lundgaard's family.
"}
