{"value"=>"<p>Eileen Burns (1914-1995), was a stage actress, a radio performer, a writer and, later on in her life, a teacher. Born in Hartsdale, New York on January 10, 1914, Eileen Burns was the daughter of George Armour Prince (an interior designer) and Anna Maria (Jensen) Burns. Eileen Burns earned a B.A. from the City University of New York in 1980 and a M.A. from Hunter College in 1984. Eileen Burns trained for the stage with Benno Schneider and Geraldine Page, and made her stage debut as a walk-on in <span class=\"title\">Merrily We Roll Along</span> in 1934 at the Music Box Theatre in New York City. Her subsequent stage appearances included <span class=\"title\">The Women</span> at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre (1936), <span class=\"title\">Daughters of Atreus</span> at the 44th Street Theatre (1936), <span class=\"title\">The Fabulous Invalid</span>at the Broadhurst Theatre (1938), <span class=\"title\">The American Way</span> at the Center Theatre (1939), <span class=\"title\">Native Son</span> at the Majestic Theatre (1942), <span class=\"title\">Christopher Blake</span> at the Music Box Theatre (1946), <span class=\"title\">Mourning Becomes Elektra</span> at the Circle in the Square (1972), <span class=\"title\">Déclassée</span> at the Lion Theatre (1981) and <span class=\"title\">Grandma Pray for Me</span> at the Classic Theatre (1988). Eileen Burns also toured the United States in 1974 with a production of <span class=\"title\">Sabrina Fair</span>. For <span class=\"title\">Albee Directs Albee</span>, she toured the United States in 1975, then a tour of the Orient from 1976-1978. She also toured <span class=\"title\">Bell, Book, and Candle</span> and <span class=\"title\">Light Up the Sky</span>.</p> <p>Over the course of her acting career, Eileen Burns worked under the following names - Isis Brinn, Ann Cushing and, finally, Eileen Burns.</p> <p>Besides acting, Eileen Burns pursued writing and radio careers. Her published writings include for radio the <span class=\"title\">Resistance Play</span> for <span class=\"title\">Family Hour</span>, CBS in 1963, and her work as a contributor to <span class=\"title\">Opera News</span> from 1966-1967. Her radio appearances include work on the series: <span class=\"title\">Descent of the Gods</span> and <span class=\"title\">One of the Finest</span>. Her non-entertainment related career work includes teaching English in New York City and serving with the America Red Cross in England and France, 1943-1945. She was awarded battle medals for Red Cross Service in Normandy, France, 1944.</p> <p>Eileen Burns died on April 18, 1995.</p>"}
