In a detailed description of this venture, Smith noted the archival resources that were held in some of Brazil's older churches, though he did not mention any gift or acquisition of Brazilian manuscripts. In succeeding years Dr. Smith continued to visit Brazil, and it is suspected that he acquired this collection of music was given to him on one of these visits.</p>"}
