Born in 1891, Jacobi studied piano with Paolo Gallico and Rafael Joseffy and composition with Rubin Goldmark and Ernest Bloch. He was assistant conductor at the Metropolitan Opera in New York from 1913 to 1917.</p> <p>He spent time in the southwestern United States where he studied the music of the Pueblo Indians, elements of which he incorporated into his own compositions. He taught composition at the Juilliard School of Music from 1936 to 1950.</p> <p>Jacobi died in 1952.</p>"}
