{"value"=>"<p>The Lincoln School for Nurses was the first nursing school for African American women in New York City, and the sixth nursing school for African American women founded in the United States. The first was at Provident Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. The Lincoln School for Nurses was founded in the Bronx in 1898 at the Home for the Colored Aged, now Lincoln Hospital. The first class of six students graduated in 1900, and a total of 1,864 Black women from the United States, the Caribbean, and Africa attended the school. The Alumnae Association was formed in 1905. The last class graduated in 1961, the year the school closed.</p>"}
