The archbishop of Lima, Pedro de Villagómez Vivanco, tasked Córdova with researching and writing the text after the king of Spain issued a royal decree in 1648 demanding a description of the archdiocese's territory. The work was completed in 1650.</p> <p>This vellum-bound, 92-leaf folio signed by Córdova is dated 1650.
