GMAD is the largest and oldest African American organization dedicated exclusively to the welfare of Black gay men. Its mission is to empower gay men of African descent in New York City through education, advocacy, health and wellness promotion, and social support.</p> <p>In 1993, GMAD collaborated with AIDSFILMS to produce <span class=\"title\">Party</span>, an HIV/AIDS awareness short film for safe sex educators and community organizations to use as a guide in HIV prevention outreach. The film was written by playwright Alan Sharpe and directed by Charles A. Sessoms. It is considered the first safer sex film produced by Black gay men for Black gay men.</p>"}
