{"value"=>"<p>Gary Batson is a playwright, president of Batson Communications and Entertainment Company (Batson Communications), and a publisher with Batson-Jones-Rea Publishing Company. He earned his BA from Fordham University, two MAs in education and communications from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a PhD in education administration from the University of Maryland. In the 1980s, Batson was a member of the Frank Silvera Writers' Workshop and involved with the Negro Ensemble Company. His plays have been produced at the Samuel French Off Off Broadway Short Play and Strawberry One-Act Festivals, as well as Michael Carson Studios, Negro Ensemble Company, Paul Robeson Theater, and the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. In 2008, he co-founded the Mount Vernon Theater Company in New York, now known as Phoenix Arts, for which he is executive producer. Additionally, Batson has published fiction and poetry, and was a news reporter and editor.</p>"}
