{"value"=>"<p>The American Bridge Association (ABA) was formed in Buckroe Beach, Virginia, in 1932 by a group of African American bridge players in order to combat racial prejudice, segregation, and exclusion from membership and competition in the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL).</p> <p>In 1967, ACBL changed its by-laws to allow African Americans to become full members, eliminating the racial barrier in professional bridge. ABA continues to sponsor two annual tournaments.</p>"}
