{"value"=>"<p>Daisy Screven George (1907-2004) advocated for women's rights as a member and leader of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. (NANBPW), and the National Council of Negro Women. Many of the organizations to which George belonged had originated in the Black women's club movement of the first half of the twentieth century.</p> <p>From 1973 to 1985, George served as the NANBPW's accredited representative to the United Nations where she headed a special project to assist women-led small businesses in Senegal, the Gambia, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, and Malawi in 1977.</p>"}
