{"value"=>"<p>Howard Bennett (1911-1981) was a civil rights activist and a Harlem community leader who founded the National Citizens Committee for a Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. From the time of King's assassination on April 4, 1968, Bennett campaigned persistently to have King's birthday celebrated as a national holiday.
