The dance citics George Dorris and Jack Anderson, professional and life partners, were the editors-in-chief from its inception until 2007. Dorris had a career as a college professor, with his time spent at York College (1967-1998) overlapping with his time as editor-in-chief. Anderson was on the editorial staff of <span class=\"title\">Dance Magazine</span> from 1964 to 1970, and was a dance critic for <span class=\"title\">The New York Times</span> from 1978 to 2005. He is also a poet, having published ten books of poetry.</p>"}
