{"value"=>"<p>Judith Scott was born Judith Skwiot in Chicago around 1937. She attended Mundelein College, majoring in Theater and Psychology and graduating in 1958. She completed a Masters' Degree in Dance Education at Northwestern University.</p> <p>In 1963 she joined Gus Giordano in forming Dance Incorporated Chicago, which featured ballet, jazz, and modern dance choreography. In addition to performing with the company, Scott served as its modern dance choreographer. During her time with Dance Incorporated Chicago, she taught modern dance at Northwestern University and the University of Jamaica in the West Indies.</p> <p>From 1969 to 1975 Scott taught at Barnard College in New York City. During that time, she formed the Judith Scott Dance Company, performing pieces throughout the New York City metropolitan area. In the 1980s, Scott shifted her focus to aerobic dancing and fitness, writing books and magazine articles on the topic.</p>"}

These performance files include black and white 35mm negatives and contact sheets. Some performance files also hold black and white prints, color 35mm slides, and printed event announcements. Several files of photographs for her book projects are included in the collection. Two portrait files hold posed and candid portrait photographs of Scott from the 1960s through the 1980s. Other subjects include the Dance Incorporated Chicago company and dance classes for children taught by Scott. A file of promotional material holds performance announcements, press releases, newspaper clippings, and performance schedules, many of which include reproductions of photographic prints found elsewhere in the collection.</p>"}
