The Robert McMurray Theatre District artwork consists of a map and photographs with McMurray's handwritten annotations, containing historical information about theaters and other buildings. The artwork was created between 1999 and 2005. The materials are photocopies, mostly in color. The map is titled "The heart of New York's theatre district and Times Square (plus the Herald Square + 5th Ave. shopping district)." There are two photographs, which depict the Times Square area around 1928 and around 1985. There are multiple copies of both photographs and of the map; some of the copies are laminated. There are no sources for the historical information contained in the artwork. The artwork is accompanied by a 2004 article about McMurray from the Staten Island Advance, titled "The Mapman Cometh."
