Richard Hummler (1943-1990) was a theater critic and editor for Variety. He was assistant editor of Variety's legitimate theater section from 1978 until 1986, and editor from 1978 until his death. His research materials date from 1979 to 1985 and consist of legal and financial records for theater companies and productions, which he used when writing articles for Varieyt. The records are marked "Story" or "No Story." Records marked "Story" also have a date for when the relevant article was published. The records are lightly annotated.
