The Counterpoint Theatre Company records document the Off Off-Broadway theater company's establishment and its productions from 1974 to 1980. There is also one file on a 1974 production of Uncle Vanya by the Chamber Theatre Company, a predecessor of Counterpoint. The collection contains correspondence, production photographs, press releases, clippings, financial information, programs, Equity Showcase Code paperwork, and other publicity and administrative materials. Correspondence is mostly to and from managing director Paulene Reynolds and artistic director Howard Green, and includes letters about performance rights and press coverage. Most of the materials are filed by production. The company specialized in revivals, and plays include works by Ferenc Molnar, Clifford Odets, George Bernard Shaw, and Ronald Ribman. There is also a file for Corners by Brooke Breslow, which in 1980 was the first new play to be produced by Counterpoint.
