The Market Place Gallery and Book Shop exhibited the artwork of black artists and also served as a salon with poetry readings. It was located at 2305 Seventh Avenue in Harlem, New York, and was owned and operated by Adele Glasgow, Marguerite Moorman and Ramona Lowe. The gallery opened in 1959 and functioned for about ten years.
Artists who exhibited their works at the gallery include Claude Clark, Ivie Jackman, Vivian Schuyler Key, Jacob Lawrence, Geoffrey Holder, David Scott Brown, Lawrence Compton, Alfred Hicks, Michael Loew, James Arthur Williams, Norma Morgan, Charles White and Ernest Crichlow.
