German literary critic and author who fled Nazi Germany. Bab and his wife Elisabeth resided in Roslyn Heights, N.Y. Papers, in German, consist of Bab's correspondence with Henry Meier, 1942-1955, relating to programs and affairs of the Literarischer Verein of New York City, with brief exchange between Elisabeth Bab and Meier regarding Bab's death; and personal letters of Julius and Elizabeth Bab to Mrs. Else Liebreich of Brooklyn, N.Y., ca. 1943-1954, including postcards and two photographs of Julius Bab. Materials from memorial services for Julius Bab and newspaper clippings are present in both folders.
