The Nation was published starting July 6, 1865, to cover politics, literature, science, and art. E.L. Godkin was the first editor. Collection consists of correspondence, ledgers, lists of contributors, records of books sent for review, list of articles, and other papers. Includes letters, 1875-1906, received chiefly by Wendell Phillips Garrison, literary editor of the Nation.
