John Hogg was a nonpracticing barrister and country gentleman of Norton near Stockton-on-Tees, co. Durham. He was the father of Thomas Jefferson Hogg, friend and biographer of the poet Shelley, and John Hogg, the naturalist. Manuscript volume recording basic bibliographic information for books on architecture, history, the arts, argriculture, medicine, divinity, heraldry, philosophy, and other subjects, as well as poetry, novels, and manuscripts. Bound in contemporary half straight-grained black morocco with blue French shell boards, spine gilt.
