Henry Kane, British Vice-Consul in Ancona, Italy. He was appointed Vice-Consul in November of 1819, and retained the post at least until 1835 (cf. House of Lords, The Sessional Papers, 1835, v. 26). · To Teresa Guiccioli, Lord Byron's last mistress : 1 letter signed : 27 Feb 1824 : (B'ANA 0437) : from Ancona : in Italian; body of the letter in the hand of "V. S. Tilma"; with Kane's autograph closing and signature; saying that James Hamilton Browne has told him that she needs someone whio will ensure that her letters tio Byron and his to her reach their destination safely, and offering his services; begins, "Il Signor Brown, mi fece noto, come V. S. Tilma ...".
