George Huntly Gordon, clerk in Her Majesty's Stationery Office. Gordon was deaf, and had been the amanuensis of Sir Walter Scott (cf. Joukovsky's Letters of Peacock, p. 423n). · To Thomas Love Peacock, novelist : 1 autograph letter signed : 27 Jun 1861 : (P'ANA 0051) : on the subject of Latin enigmas; this letter prompted Peacock's response on 4 Jul (TLP 0069).
