Josiah Forster, prominent British Quaker. He served as presiding officer over the yearly meeting of British Quakers from 1820-1831. He was the brother of William Forster, philanthropist and Quaker minister. · To Robert Were Fox, English Quaker geologist and physicist : 1 autograph letter signed : 12 Mar 1819 : (MISC 1992) : requesting money to support the continental performance of French Quaker missionary Stephen Grellet. Additionally signed by Luke Howard, Quaker chemist and meteorologist, and Thomas Christy (probably Thomas Christy, b. 1801, of the London Quaker hat maker Christys). Attached to a third person letter addressed to Mrs. Robert Fox from "Lt. Gov. Melville," 28 Apr 1810 (MISC 1993), regarding an allowance from the Society of Friends. Both letters were formerly attached to (G 0305).
