Cecile Dixon was a British stage actress who first appeared in the famous 1924 production of THE WAY OF THE WORLD with Edith Evans, Elliott Playfair and Elsa Lanchester. She then emigrated to the United States where she appeared in OLD ENGLISH with George Arliss. Other productions include THE GREEN HAT, THE ADVENTUROUS AGE, SPELLBOUND and HE WALKED IN HIS SLEEP. In 1929 she married Charles Courtneidge. She retired from the theater in 1931 after the birth of her daughter Ann Courtneidge. The Cecile Dixon Scrapbook consists of clippings documenting her entire acting career from 1924-1931. One early clipping [1919] is from a school production. Also contains a manuscript [1992] by her son-in-law Michael Venables of anecdotes on her acting career.
