Mary Wigman (1886-1973) was a German dancer, dance instructor, and choreographer notable for her work in expressionist dance. Her many students included Yvonne Georgi, Hanya Holm, Harald Kreutzberg, Gret Palucca, Margarethe Wallmann, Inge Weiss, and Meta Vidmar. Nancy Brock was also a student of Wigman's from 1953 to 1954, and they maintained a correspondence until Wigman's death. This collection documents the relationship between Wigman and Brock through their personal correspondence, photographs, articles that Brock and others wrote about Wigman, and preparations for "Mary Wigman Day" in 1958 as well as Wigman's 80th birthday celebration. It also contains some of Brock's correspondence with others in the dance field, including Lincoln Kirstein, John Martin, Charles Weidman, and Louis Horst, as well as Brock's lecture notes from her time as a student. less

The Changing Times Tap Dancing Company collection documents the activities and contributions put forward by its founder Jane Goldberg. Since 1979 Goldberg has preserved, promoted, and performed the dance form while paying respect to its most important key tappers such as Charles "Cookie" Cook, Albert "Gip" Gibson, Bubba Gaines, and Ernest "Brownie" Brown. The collection contains articles written by and about Goldberg, newsletters, educational papers, tap history profiles, programs, correspondence, administrative records, publicity materials, photographs, and posters. Many of Goldberg's allies in producing original tap shows and festivals, including Brenda Bufalino and Sarah Safford, are represented throughout in interviews, scripts, and programs. Additionally, photographs and correspondence provide a portrait of the professional and personal friendship Goldberg shared with Gregory Hines during tap's "revival" of the mid 1970's through 2003. The correspondence is partially related to Miss Moore's research on the 19th century ballet, with letters from dance authorities such as Walter Toscanini, Ivor Guest, Ifan Kyrle Fletcher, Ted Shawn, and Clive Barnes. Other correspondence is with various art councils, libraries, dance companies, and a number of major American and Danish dancers. less
