Frederick S. Dellenbaugh (1853-1935) was an explorer, artist and author. As the artist and assistant topographer on John Wesley Powell's second Colorado River expedition, 1871-1873, he helped to prepare the first map of the Grand Canyon. He was a cofounder and lifetime member of the Explorers Club, served on the board of directors for the Eastern Association on Indian Affairs, and was the American Geographical Society's librarian from 1909-1911. His papers include correspondence, a diary of the Powell expedition, manuscripts and drafts of his writings, research notes, sketches, photographs, newspaper clippings, and other printed matter. less

Samuel S. Heim was an American explorer and researcher in a topic he called "Biblic geography". Collection consists of Heim's letters, notebooks, maps, and related materials he compiled. Letters from Heim to the New York Public Library concern his research. Notebooks and maps (drawn by Heim) depict his theory that the Americas contain geographic features described in the Bible. less
