David Bennett Hill (1843-1910), an American lawyer and politician, served as governor of New York from 1885 to 1891 and U.S. senator from 1891 to 1897. He was also president of the New York State Bar Association. Collection consists of correspondence, legal and political papers, writings and speeches, and photographs. Correspondence, 1886-1910, is with prominent citizens of New York and fellow politicians. Legal papers, ca. 1901-1907, include briefs, affidavits and legal opinions. Political papers contain campaign materials and executive orders from Hill's gubernatorial term and a few of his papers as a U.S. senator. Also, writings and speeches, 1892-1904, and photographs including portraits of Hill. less
