The Merlin Group records, dating from 1967 to 1979, document the publicity work performed by the company for six productions: Chicago, King of Hearts, Trick, The Goodbye People, Coquelico, and The Wiz. less

The Equity Library Theatre (ELT) was a theatre company in New York City from 1943 to 1989, founded by actor Sam Jaffe, a representative of the Actor's Equity Association, and George Freedley, curator of the Theatre Collection of the New York Public Library. ELT was dedicated to showcasing unemployed Equity actors in classic and modern plays and musicals and to provide free theatre to New Yorkers. The Paul Cranefield Papers, 1824-2002 [bulk years 1951-2002], document medical doctor and theater enthusiast Paul Cranefield’s interest and contribution to New York City’s theatrical world, and in particular the Off-Off Broadway movement. The collection consists of administrative files created by the La Mama Experimental Theatre Club and the Circle Repertory Theatre, in which Cranefield served as a board member for several years. They include correspondence, meeting minutes, notes and agendas, legal and financial records, grant applications, leaflets and brochures, production inventories, and Cranefield’s writings on subjects related to theater and collecting. There are also scripts, photographs, clippings, and a considerable number of programs and posters from productions created by La Mama and Circle Repertory Theatre, as well as from productions of the 1800s, collected by Cranefield. less

Joe Baum (1920-1998) was the celebrated restaurateur responsible for some of New York City's most well-known restaurants during the period of the 1950s-1990s. The collection spans Baum's career from his years with Restaurant Associates, through the creation of the varied dining facilities of the World Trade Center (including Windows on the World), and his revival of the historic Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center. Materials in the collection include business correspondence, memoranda, and reports; publicity materials, menus, photographs, and scrapbooks documenting the work of Baum and his associates in the creation and operation of his signature restaurants, as well as copies of Baum's speeches, appointment books, awards, and letters of thanks received from friends and members of the public. less

Carol Benet (b. 1939) is an American writer, educator, and critic of the arts. The Carol Benet collection of Sam Shepard research materials dates from 1970 to 1995 and holds scholarly articles, reviews, scripts, programs, recorded interviews, notes, dissertation drafts, and correspondence relating to the playwriting career of Sam Shepard. Material in this collection was gathered by Benet for her dissertation, The German Reception of Sam Shepard (1987). less
