The collection shows various details of the lives and careers of notable music figures of the period through the memoirs and diaries of Edith Evans Braun, a pianist and director at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Of strong interest in the collection are the music manuscript sketches by emerging composers (Deems Taylor, Samuel Barber) of the period, and signed and dedicated published scores. There are also letters and photographs from Taylor, Barber, Gian Carlo Menotti, Josef Hoffman, and others. The period covered in the collection is from 1916 to 1971. less
