The Workshop of the Players Arts Foundation, Inc. (WPA) Theatre was an Off Off-Broadway theater that existed from 1971 to 2000. Kyle Renick served first as its Managing Director then, starting in 1982, as its Artistic Director. This collection consists of materials dedicated to the WPA Theatre and some personal papers from Renick. The WPA material includes production photographs, correspondence, administrative documents, awards, meeting minutes, and contracts. Renick's personal materials include his agendas from the 1980s, correspondence, clippings, photographs, non-theatrical research, and a caricature of him by Al Hirschfeld. less

Barnard Hughes (1915-2006) and Helen Stenborg (1925-2011) were prolific stage and screen actors. Hughes was best known for his award-winning turn as the titular character in Da, and Stenborg performed extensively with the Circle Repertory Company. Their papers date from the 1880s to 2011, and chronicle their professional careers and personal collecting interests through posters, programs, photographs, correspondence, engravings, scripts, manuscripts, and award trophies. The collection also contains theater memorabilia that Hughes inherited from Thelma Chandler, a stage manager. The Chandler memorabilia includes correspondence from Margaret Webster, the American director, producer, and actress. less

Founded by Robert Alex Baron, its objectives were to develop information about the injurious effect of noise; research methods of controlling and reducing it; and educate the public on the importance of its abatement. The Citizens for a Quieter City records (1950-1980) document the work of the organization through correspondence with government and private sector officials; sound and video recordings; meeting minutes; records of noise complaints; scrapbooks; financial records; posters; and published research and information on noise pollution. The collection also holds the records of the Upper Sixth Avenue Noise Abatement Association and Robert Alex Baron's files regarding his job as general manager of Theatre Tours. less
