This collection of legal documents and letters pertains to the problems in Italy of obtaining copyright to music scores written for ballets of the choreographer
Giuseppe Rota (1822-1865). Other principal parties to the case are
Paolo Giorza (1832-1914, composer and conductor),
Francesco Lucca (1802-1872, music publisher),
Giovanni Depanis (music editor?) and the firm of
Guidici &
Strada (music publishers?). The documents are in Italian, but most have a brief summary of the contents in English. The items are in chronological order, with the exception of some related items which were received together (i.e. folders 18, 20, 22; “see also” references are made from these folder listings to the earlier material in the chronological listings).
