Louisiana Sissies in Struggle (LASIS), a collective of white gays, was formed in New Orleans for the purpose of opposing racism and sexism, and for promoting the social and civil rights of gays and other minorities. In 1978, LASIS formed a small group called the Pink Triangle Alliance which sponsored the first Gay Pride Day rally in New Orleans.
